Brian Matusz - Baltimore Orioles pitcher

Who’s the hottest Orioles starting pitcher this spring? Why it’s Brian Matusz of course — just like you all predicted.

Your NCAA Tournament bracket is still perfect and your correctly hypothesized that the fourth overall pick in 2008 would start pitching like an ace six years into his Major League career.

Bravo.

Matusz’s red hot spring continued on Friday with four shutout innings. He allowed just two hits, struck out two (Pablo Sandoval twice) and walked none. Overall this spring, Matusz has given up just one run on seven hits over 10.1 innings, surrendered no walks and fanned 10.

We’ve seen Matusz’s name popping up in trade rumors over the past week or so — he’s been most notably linked to the Mets. The 28-year-old lefty is being paid $3.2 million this season and will hit the open market at the end of 2015.
