As predicted, Orioles starter Zach Britton will likely begin the season on the disabled list.

Britton told MASNSports.com’s Roch Kubatko that he will see Dr. Andrews on on Wednesday for a second opinion on his injured left shoulder.

If you haven’t been following at home, Britton injured his shoulder in August of 2011 (that’s seven months ago) and showed up to Spring Training still bothered by it.  Red flags when Britton was scratched from his start on Sunday in a Single-A game at Twin Lakes Park.

We can’t know for sure, but it sure seems like some proper offseason attention by the O’s training staff could have had the 24-year-old lefty ready for Opening Day 2012.

Britton is aiming for mid to late April debut according to Dan Connolly of The Sun.
