The first of two match ups to end the second day of the 1st round come out of the Robinson region. We have two Ravens-themed moments facing off in this 7 vs. 10 battle.
#7 The Lights Go Out In The Superdome
Who can forget this memory? How about hundreds of millions of people around the world, not just Ravens fans here in Baltimore. With 13:22 left in the 3rd quarter, the Ravens took a commanding 28-6 lead on San Francisco. Jacoby Jones had just run the opening half kickoff back 108 yards, momentum clearly on the side of Baltimore. Then, boom. Out go the lights. A 34-minute delay stalled the biggest game of the year and for a short time after, allowed the 49ers to get back into the game. In the end, it didn’t matter as the Ravens won 34-31.
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu called the power outage “an unfortunate moment in what has been an otherwise shining Super Bowl week for the city of New Orleans.”
#10 Ravens Lay 55 Points On The Raiders
Poor Oakland Raiders. This is now the third sports moment from that game to make the field of 64 in this tournament as the embarrassment continues.
The Raiders couldn’t cover anyone. The Ravens racked up 419 total yards of offense and set the franchise record for points in a game. Joe Flacco finished with a QB rating of 115.8. Anquan Boldin told defenders to look at the scoreboard. Shall I say any more? We’ll leave you alone now Oakland.
