The Washington Capitals have been struggling to replace Mikhail Grabovski as their second line center. They’ve tried Jay Beagle, but that didn’t work. So the Capitals are going to Plan B: Casey Wellman. Casey Wellman has been playing alright since being called up, but I don’t see why the Capitals haven’t at least tried using Eric Fehr as the second line center. Fehr isn’t a top 6 forward, but he’s still far more qualified than Beagle or Casey Wellman.
In other news, the Capitals have recalled defensemen Patrick Wey and Julien Brouillette from Hershey after sending down Tyson Strachan. Mike Green is still battling an injury and isn’t expected to play until after the Olympics. Wey is expected to play tonight. Michal Neuvirth is expected to start in goal tonight for the Capitals as they face the Winnipeg Jets.
