Ray Rice - Ravens running back

Ravens running back Ray Rice didn’t give me much to cheer for in 2013, but I can promise that from this day forward he won’t receive my support. Sunday night, the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec reported that Rice had been arrested in Atlantic City for for a physical altercation.

More details emerged as the evening went on and eventually, the Baltimore Sun released the full police report for Rice and his fiance, Janay Palmer.

On Saturday February 15, 2014 at 2:51am Atlantic City Police responded to Revel Casino for a domestic dispute. Uniformed Officer Cuong Sam and Officer Bryon Hargis met Revel Security at the porte-cochere and were escorted to both parties involved in the incident. The male and female involved were identified as Raymell Rice and Janay A. Palmer. After reviewing surveillance footage it appeared both parties were involved in a physical altercation. The complaint summons indicates that both Rice and Palmer struck each other with their hands. The responding officer signed a simple assault complaint against both Rice and Palmer.

It may be an unpopular opinion among purple Kool-Aid guzzlers, but I could never support a guy that hits a woman. I don’t care what she did to him (or whatever other ridiculous excuses we’ll all hear this week), I refuse to show my support anyone that harms a woman.

Rice has been an outspoken anti-bullying advocate. I certainly hope he speaks publicly about the mistake he made and faces the young crowds he has influenced in schools across to Baltimore.
