Baltimore Orioles first basemen/third basemen Chris Davis will be suspended 25 games as he tested positive for the amphetamines (adderall). Davis would be able to return to the club in the postseason, he is suspended for the remaining 17 regular season games and eight postseason games. Davis is currently hitting .196, but does have 26 HR’s and 72 RBI’s while only committing 4 errors playing both first and third base.

This is a blow to a team that already has lost catcher Matt Wieters (Tommy John) and third basemen Manny Machado (knee surgery).

Davis is also going into the this offseason a second year arbitration eligible. He was awarded a $10.35 million this past offseason. He can become a free agent after the 2016 season.

Davis can appeal this decision, but based on the potential of returning before the postseason is over might sway his decision to do so. Either way, it’s quite a black eye on what has become a great story this year in the Charm City.
