Chris Davis - Baltimore Orioles 1B/3B

No one could possibly replace Platinum Glove winner Manny Machado‘s production at third base, but Chris Davis certainly seems to be doing a pretty good job. Crush may be struggling at the plate, but that hasn’t affected what he’s been able to do in the field. Whether at first or third, Davis continues to prove his worth with the glove.

On Tuesday night, In the first inning, with a runner on third, Davis checked the runner, and fired a missile to first to give Steve Pearce a chance to throw out the runner.

Then with the bases loaded in the sixth, Desmond Jennings hit a slow ground ball third, Davis had no chance to get the runner at first, so instead he cut down James Loney at the plate to save a run.

I have to admit, I’ve been impressed with Davis at the hot corner. He may not have the arm or range or even the glove of Machado, but he seems to have stepped up in the role and helped fill a major need for the Orioles.
