Chris Davis joined Babe Ruth as one of three players to record a victory on the mound and three home runs in one season since 1900. Davis (2012), Ruth (1930) and Jim Tobin (1942) are the only three to ever accomplish such a feat in over 100 years of baseball.
And so the insanity of the Baltimore Orioles 2012 season continues.
After belting his third homer, an opposite field two-run blast in the sixth inning, Davis returned to the dugout, high fiving his teammates and coaches. But Davis saved his hardest and most furious high-five for manager Buck Showalter.
“He makes a point of hitting my hand extra hard,” Showalter told The Baltimore Sun’s Dan Connolly after the game. “Good thing I don’t have to play. I’ve got a pretty red one tonight.”
Why the anger?
“He told me in New York that he liked it, Davis explained “…so I get him when I get a chance.”
You can see J.J. Hardy laughing in the background.
