Quite possibly the only team that has been more quiet than the Ravens this week was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Besides having one of their players apologize to the commissioner, I can’t think of anything else that’s gone on in Pittsburgh.
A scary bit of news did cross the twitterverse yesterday however. The Steelers are in the market for a veteran tight end and Tony Lombardi of Ravens24x7.com tweeted that maybe, just maybe, Ravens free agent Todd Heap could be the guy.
Steelers looking for a vet TE. Heap in Pittsburgh? What a nightmarish thought.
At the moment it’s pure speculation. The Steelers have worked out veteran tight end Daniel Graham, but he is also visiting with the Titans and Seahawks as well.
Just the thought of seeing Heap in a Steelers jersey makes my stomach turn. Hopefully the Ravens can work out a deal to bring him back to Baltimore this season.
Ozzie is asleep at the wheel………….again………
Heap is an excellent fit for the Steelers. He’s got great hands, an excellent blocker and he’s tough. The Steelers would be foolish to pass up an opportunity to bring Heap here. The same for Plax. Too bad he’s going to the jets; the guy would have done wonders and fill in greatly for an aging Hines Ward. But lets keep the fingers crossed that the Steel Men can steal Heap from the top of the Heap of quality players with the Ravens. Would love it!!
