Delmon Young has found himself in many roles with the Orioles this season. A pinch hitter, a DH and outfielder, Young has done it all in Baltimore. In game two of the ALDS on Friday afternoon, he showed how important he is to Buck Showalter‘s club.
With his club down 6-4 in the eighth inning, Young was announced as the hitter for Ryan Flaherty in a bases loaded situation. Seconds later, he ripped the first pitch he saw down the left field line. Nelson Cruz and Steve Pearce scored easily, and J.J. Hardy scored all the way from first, sliding in ahead of the tag.
In their first two games of the postseason, the Orioles have seen big performances from their guys with postseason experience. Nelson Cruz blasted a two-run homer in game one, and Young was the hero on Friday.
