If you’re looking for a good laugh, head on over to ESPN.com and read their AL East Preview for the 2012 season. Like many publications, the Baltimore Orioles got no love.
Not only did the world-wide leader predict that the Orioles would finish last in the AL East, but they said even in their best-case scenario the Orioles still would fail to win 70 games. Worse-case scenario? ” The O’s end up breaking the club record (107 in 1988) for losses in a season.”
Neither has proven true. The Orioles won their 70th game of the season on Monday night with 35 left to go. And oh by the way, they’re 3.5 games back of the Yankees for the lead in the AL East and tied with Oakland for the top spot in the Wild Card.
Probably even more funny than ESPN completely missing on the Orioles is their rankings in the AL East.
1. Tampa Bay Rays
2. New York Yankees
3. Boston Red Sox
4. Toronto Blue Jays
5. Baltimore Orioles
As of today, none of those teams are in their predicted spots.
Had some other clown I know predict 100 losses, than turn around a few months later and then predict 75 wins ( jump of 13 games), wonder what prediction will be next?!? If you throw enough predictions out there, one of ’ems gotta be right or close, right?
Clown, I thought you were afraid of clowns? Must be another, Michael George Williams…
Yea, Nails, I’ve made a conscious effort to rid myself of the clowns in my life. 62 wins was the prediction in Spring Training, then more recently it was 75, what’s next? Already heard the back pedaling saying they won’t be able to sustain “next year”. Like my daddy used to say, see a clown, avoid a clown.
