I’m not going to lie. There are typically two weeks a year that I really care about horse racing. After the Kentucky Derby I try to read and soak up as much information as I can before the Preakness. I’ll use these thousands of words to lay down a few bucks on the race and usually walk away empty handed.
As I do every year, I’ll tune in this afternoon, root for the Derby winner (Orb this year) because I want to see someone win the Triple Crown in my lifetime and if he wins I’ll watch the Belmont a few weeks later. We’ve only seen two horses win the Derby and Preakness since 2005 and I’m hopeful that the winning colt from two weeks ago will pull it off this afternoon in Baltimore. Everyone seems to think he will.
For some the Preakness is about history and tradition. For others it’s about bottomless mugs and running on top of porta potties. I personally have no desire to get housed in the infield, but to each his own I guess.
Also, Pitbull might be the worst musician performing today.
For whatever it’s worth (not much), here are my win, place and show:
Who are you taking?
