It’s going to be the question that Ravens fans ponder for the next week, so we may as well discuss it now. In his post game press conference, John Harbaugh was asked about his decision to go for it on 4th and 2 instead of sending Billy Cundiff out for a 48 yard field goal attempt.
Harbaugh responded to the reporter by saying, “Were you down there on the field? Did you see the way those balls were tracking in the field goal pre-game? It was a tough kick. I’m pretty good at that. I’ve been doing it for a long time. I understand what those guys can do and what they can’t do. It would have been a very low percentage kick.”
Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun said that in Harbaugh’s response he “snapped back” to the reporter when answering the question, which seems to be a trend of late. I believe the reporter was asking about decision, not telling the coach he should have kicked.
Cundiff did tell the media after the game that he had trouble in his pre game warm ups making field goals from that distance, so the Ravens took a chance and came up on the short end.
Here’s the million dollar question, kick or go for it?
Go for it- just don't short-hop a wide open Ed Dickson.
It was the right call….I wish Dickson could have tried more to catch it.
Unfortunately, Dickson was backing up when Flacco threw the pass. Flacco needed to step into that throw to make sure it got there. Dickson was wide open and could've picked up some additional yards to make it a closer field goal try.
Tried more. Like been 2 feet tall?
Typical Harbaugh arrogant answer. Everyone busted on Billick for his answers but Harbaugh gets a free ride when it comes to his responses. Harbaugh the assclown thinks he is above everyone and should not be asked questions about his strategy, etc…
if he would have gotten up and ran 2 extra yards the previous play, they wouldn't have to worry about that last pass.
Harbaugh has a ton of pressure on him. This team was built to win it all this year, but despite all the new weapons, their offense still is below average. All the talk about "making the playoffs" 3 years in a row is great, but with this team, that should be a given. They really haven't gotten better as the season has gone on and they now face an uphill battle of looking like they will have to go on the road come January.
This team has underperformed, but they won't come out and say it. If Harbs got up to the mic and said he was mad that they are playing so poorly it would actually make people feel better. Instead he tip toes around the obvious issue.
Actually, he did say it. In today's press conference, he clearly said they have multiple things to work on, and addressed each one of those issues. And as for the call, it was right all the way. And to Ravens2488, how is that an arrogant answer?
It's totally reasonable to be that upset… he's up there being asked a question that undermines his intelligence as a coach. It's a lot easier to get 2 yards than kick that long field goal in strong winds. Percentage-wise, he made the right call. Just a dumb reporter asking a dumb question. There's many important questions to ask, and that decision was not one of them.
It was the right call and if anyone is an @ssclown his name would be Ravens 2488. Some above have concerns that this team has not played to poetential and those concerns are valid. This team has not put together a full 60 minute game all season. This team has been built to win this year and they sure haven't shown it to date. Now back to the question, the right move was not to kick, there are many things we can Monday morning QB but that one is not one of them.
He has a right to be upset Conoon? Come on! You guys never gave Billick any slack when he got pissed at the writers/reporters but you'll give Harbaugh slack? And don't tell me you weren't one of the clowns busting on Billick and the way he answered questions. You can't have it both ways.
