Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was asked about the preseason after practice yesterday. He responded “Preseason’s good, but my mind is focusing on one team and that’s Baltimore, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Ward continued to discuss the Ravens, including their offseason shuffles. He thinks that the Ravens losses put more weight on the shoulders of quarterback Joe Flacco this season.
“When you lose a Mason or a Heap, that does a lot to a locker room,” Ward said. “Those guys were emotional leaders out there. All of the pressure comes on (quarterback Joe) Flacco probably.
“Some organizations feel like they have to go young. I think we do a great job of mixing veteran guys with a nucleus of young guys that are waiting in the wings.
Ward should be more concerned with whether he’ll be suspended for his offseason DUI than what the Ravens did this offseason. But if Roger Goodell’s inconsistent suspension sentences are any indication, Ward will be starting for Pittsburgh on September 11th.
Leave to Ol’ Hines to state the obvious. Who’s he kidding, the pressure is always on the starting QB. The expectations on Joe this year are sky high. Fans are no longer going to be intent with 10-11 wins and a playoff win, they’re expecting more. This team needs to go out and win the Division and stop being the 5th or 6th seed in the AFC. Hines stating that Joe is going to be under pressure is the dumbest, most obvious thing I’ve heard out of the Grinnin” Drunk’s mouth.
* Leave IT to Ol’ Hines
**…fans will no longer be CONTENT with 10-11 wins…
Spot on MGW… Maybe Hines needs to stop putting PRESSURE on the ol gas pedal when he’s pressuring a few brews down the ol mouth…
Maybe Ward and his bud Kordell should decide on his “Designated Driver” prior to their night at the Ol’ Hippo…
Talk is worthless. Oddly enough though, Ward didn’t really take any shots on this one. With two less proven weapons, of course there’s more pressure on Flacco to succeed. As far as blending young talent with valuable veterans, I don’t think the Ravens could be considered anything but successful in that regard.
Hines is worried about exactly what he needs to be. He has an attorney to handle the DUI charges, his job is to handle football. Pretty stupid comment to make from someone that’s supposedly a writer. Why don’t you keep it about football if you can’t think of anything else to say.
The o-line puts more pressure on Joe than anything Ward does , ozzie has let this team down again,,,,,,,,,,seems like I have seen this movie before………..
