Yesterday Adam Shefter of ESPN released the news that former Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been waived after his physical. While Shefter threw out that he belives that Merriman will land in Miami, I think he sure would look good in purple.
Think about Merriman’s ties to Baltimore. He’s a University of Maryland Alumni (Fear the Turtle!), also does an obnoxious dance (still secondary to Ray Ray) and could provide a viable pass rush attack (look out T-Sizzle).
The argument against Merriman would be his off field issues that he would bring to Baltimore, but the Ravens have seemed to look the other way when it comes to players of this nature in their recent future. Baltimore went out and got Donte Stallworth, arguably the most controversial signing of the offseason and brout in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who’s controversial comments with team mates have made headlines throughout his career.
Nonetheless, I believe that Merriman could provide support for the Ravens struggling pass rush if the price is right and John Harbaugh expressed on his radio show on WBAL that he and Ozzie Newsome discussed adding the Merriman to their roster. “We’ll have a discussion about it and see where we’re at,” Harbaugh said.
What do you think? Would you want Shawne Merriman on the Ravens roster?
It's obviously too late now, but I agree with you Hayden.
MASSIVE HEADWOUND KINDLE…. now that is hilarious!
