Former Linebacker Jarret Johnson has signed a one-day contract with the Baltimore Ravens to retire. I wrote about Johnson a few days ago when he announced his retirement, so If you want to see me cry over my keyboard, you can read it here.
Never a seeker of attention or big mouth off the field, Johnson quietly became one of the best edge setters in football. Johnson will always be one of my favorite players ever, not just one to don the purple jersey. Johnson finished his career with 349 tackles and 25.5 sacks.
“It would be an honor to retire a Raven. Even when we weren’t there, we were always pulling for them, always wanting the best for them, always wanting to see them succeed.” Johnson told BaltimoreRavens.com. “It was always home.”
Welcome home, JJ. We left the light on for you.
