Joe FlaccoOver a year ago, Joe Flacco’s agent, Joe Linta, told reporters that his client was a top five quarterback. “If the game is about wins and losses, he has to be in the top five,” Linta said.

I blogged about the comments that, at the time, I thought were completely insane.

I certainly believe that Flacco could eventually crack that top five list. After watching Eli Manning’s transformation this season, hell anything can happen.

But he shouldn’t be expecting top five money in my opinion. Not yet at least.

My how quickly things change. The Ravens made an offer to Flacco during the offseason, he turned it down and opted to play out the year, led the Ravens to a Super Bowl championship, won the MVP of said championship and then agreed to the biggest contract in the NFL history.

What a crazy world we live in.

“It’s nice to be right,” Linta told Jarrett Bell of USA Today over the weekend. “Everybody laughed about it when I said he’s a top-five guy. When I said he should be the highest paid player in the NFL, they thought I was a jackass. Hey, I do my job.”

Well played, sir.
