Joe Flacco and Colin Kaepernick star in new McDonald's commercialWe told you it was coming, now it’s finally here. McDonald’s released their new commercial with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and he’s co-starring with 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.

The commercial takes place in the Superdome and promotes McDonald’s Mighty Wings. The ad feels familiar as it brings back memories of the classic commercial with Michael Jordan and Larry Bird from 1993.

Bruce Horovitz of USA Today has more on the new commercial.

“The best ads come from simple stories, and this is a timeless one,” says Allen Adamson, managing director at Landor Associates, a consulting firm. Even then, he says, it won’t be a slam-dunk for McDonald’s.

“What made a good story the first time around was the magic between Jordan and Bird — the chemistry felt real,” Adamson says. “This has the foundation to be a big idea, but it all depends on getting the details right.”

It’s cool seeing Flacco in a big national commercial, but I’m not sure that using him and Kaepernick as 2013’s version of Jordan and Bird is the best idea. I think he’s a star in the NFL, but is he the Michael Jordan of the NFL? Not so much.
