ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Ravens‘ quarterback Joe Flacco will be awarded with the Rookie of the Year honor today in Tampa Bay. However, this rookie of the year honor doesn’t come from the Associated Press, like the real NFL awards, it comes from Diet Pepsi.
“Citing a league source, Caplan said that Flacco is expected to beat out Atlanta Falcons quarteback Matt Ryan, who won the AP rookie prize, Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte and Houston Texans running back Steve Slaton,” the article said.
Flacco received zero votes by the AP, despite being the first quarterback in history to win two playoff games.
Diet Pepsi, really? I wish I owned a company so I could make up my own awards. How about this, Flacco wins BaltimoreSportsReport.com’s Rookie of the Year. How much does that mean? About as much as an honor from a diet soda company.
