As the Orioles appear to be looking for a replacement for Andy MacPhail, who reportedly will not be returning to the organization next season, rumor has it that they may need a new scouting director as well.
In a live chat with readers, ESPN Insider Keith Law said that he is hearing that Orioles director of scouting Joe Jordan will also be leaving at the season’s end.
Jordan has been with the organization since 2004 and was rumored to be a potential candidate to replace MacPhail next season.
Moving deck chairs around again , are we ?
Does Jordan deserve to be renewed? Where’s the results? The Orioles don’t have a lot of prospects in the minors… I think that reflects on his accomplishments. The Orioles need a GM with player development experience. And a considerably improved scouting staff. Gee, while we’re at it, let’s throw in better minor league coaching…
So soon? After wrapping up such an amazing success rate in the last thousand drafts, culminating – but not limited to – Matt Hobgood, I’m surprised that we are not promoting him to GM. Or owner. Or perhaps he would like to toss a few innings in tonight’s game. A raise, perhaps?
This guy should have been gone years ago. Next to the owner, the two primary departments – scouting and player development – have out and out stunk, and is, above all else. the reason why this team is so bad year in and year out.
The next GM needs to look at these two departments as his #1 priority and get the right people in there for once.
I agree , McFail fooled me , I really thought he was going to be better than he showed , I’m very disappointed……….
