James Shields pitched arguably his best game of the season on Tuesday in Tampa Bay. Unfortunately for him — fortunately for the Orioles — he was tagged with the loss.
You don’t hear about too many complete game, two hit, losing efforts. But that’s sort of the story of the O’s in 2012, isn’t it?
Shields racked up 15 strikeouts with just 106 pitches. Thankfully, Chris Davis crushed one of those pitches 445 feet over the wall in centerfield.
His skipper Joe Maddon the loss the “crime of the year“. I’ll be honest, if it had happened to an Orioles starter, I’d completely agree.
Even though the Rays are out of the race, they’re still clearly giving it all they’ve got left in the tank. Hopefully Boston musters up the same sort of strength tonight.
i have zero faith in boston
Shields is a nice pitcher , it was the best game I have watched pitched all year , bar none……………….it is not a crime to lose a game though , somedays the bear gets you…………….
