Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters at Owings Mills on Tuesday that he was “really pleased” with offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie’s progress with the team so far. “He and Ben (Grubbs) looked good next to each other,” Harbaugh said.
The Ravens signed McKinnie to a two year deal just a week ago after he was cut by the Minnesota Vikings after reporting to camp at nearly 400 pounds. Since then, McKinnie has slimmed down to 370 pounds and is hoping to drop 15 more.
Offensive line has been a big question mark for the Ravens entering the 2011 season. With Matt Birk’s knee injury and the shuffling and eventual release of Oniel Cousins, the Ravens have seen quite a few changes in just a few weeks.
Still though John Harbaugh is impressed with this squad with just under two weeks until kickoff against the Steelers. “If this is our starting point, then we feel real good about that.”
