The Orioles placed Kevin Gausman on the disabled list on Friday with right shoulder tendinitis and when he’s eligible to return, it’s expected that he’ll serve as a starter in the Norfolk Tides rotation.
Via Ed Encina of the Baltimore Sun:
Once Gausman is ready to pitch, the plan is for him to get three starts at Norfolk, then possibly return to the Orioles based on the team’s needs. He isn’t eligible to be activated from the DL until May 22, so he could make a start or two for Norfolk before his return date.
Gausman has pitched just 12 innings this season, appearing only twice since April 22. With Bud Norris‘ struggles (1-4, 9.88 ERA), it’s possible that Gausman could take his spot when he’s able to return.
