Former Oriole Melvin Mora has officially retired from Major League Baseball. Mora played for the Orioles between 2000 and 2009 and is one of the most beloved Orioles in history. He ranks 9th all time in the Orioles franchise with 1,323 hits. He is also 9th in runs and home runs, 10th in at bats, 8th in total bases and RBI’s, and 7th in doubles. After an argument with Dave Trembley for being left out of the lineup for 3 consecutive days, Mora left the Orioles and played for Colorado for one season. He finished his career last season as a utility man for the Arizona Diamondbacks, but only played 42 games due to injuries. There were reports, as seen here, that Mora wanted to return to Baltimore this season to finish his career. Instead Mora has now retired after a 13 year career. Mora still lives in the Baltimore area and will always be known as a Baltimore Oriole. We at BSR wish Mora the best in his future endeavors.
