Orioles prospect Manny Machado has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of July 30-August 5.
The Baysox shortstop went 10-21, with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple a home run and three RBI during that span. He also hit for the cycle and belted a game winning two-run home run for Bowie on Saturday. It was the first time in his young professional career that Manny Machado recorded four hits and three runs scored in one game.
Machado becomes the first Baysox player to win the honor since L.J. Hoes back in August of last year.
At Double-A this season, Machado is hitting .262 and leads his team with 56 runs scored, 26 doubles and a .425 slugging percentage.
