There’s nothing like a nice win in Tampa Bay and some more good news from down on the farm.
After hearing about Dylan Bundy’s fantastic (and potentially last) start with the Frederick Keys in the Carolina League, Manny Machado had to go and upstage the Orioles top prospect.
Last night in Bowie something magic happened. Manny Machado hit for the cycle in the Baysox 8-7 victory over the Trenton Thunder.
With his team down 7-6 in the eight inning, Machado stepped into the box after previously recording a single, double and triple. After taking a fastball for strike one, Machado belted a slider from reliever Mark Montgomery for a two-run homer that not only gave the Baysox the lead, but completed the cycle.
“To put the team ahead, that was a great feeling that I felt,” Machado told MLB.com’s Andrew Pentis. “Never in my life have I cycled. I’m lucky to have done it.”
And we’re lucky he’s in the Orioles farm system. See you soon in Baltimore, Manny.
