Mark Reynolds isn’t optimistic about returning to Baltimore in 2013. Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that the Orioles don’t seem willing to risk going to arbitration with Reynolds. He would earn around $9 million.
“I haven’t heard anything,” Reynolds told Kubatko, “and by not hearing anything at this point, I would assume that I’ll probably be gone. That would be my guess.”
A guess is really all it is at this point. Just because talks are non-existent now, doesn’t mean they will be this evening.
“This is all new to me, obviously. I don’t know if it’s standard operating procedure. It’s the first time I’ve had to deal with this kind of stuff. I figured there would at least be some type of dialogue with 24 hours to go. There’s still been nothing, so I’ll take it in stride and if it’s time to move on, it’s time to move on.”
It sounds as though Reynolds is preparing for life after Baltimore. Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes? Tonight at midnight will tell most of the story about Reynolds’ future.
