Yesterday the Maryland hoops schedule was released. It will be an interesting year for the Terps as we have a new coach in Mark Turgeon and trying to rebound from a 19-14 season. With no Jordan Williams, the team will rely heavily on the young talent that Gary Williams brought in plus the new freshmen class of Turgeon. Terrell Stoglin and company will have their work cut out for them.
Some of the highlights on the schedule are the Puerto Rico Tip-Off from November 17 until November 20. The Terps play Alabama and then Colorado or Wichita State. Illinois is the Terps opponent in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge on November 29 at home and they also play Notre Dame in the BB&T Classic in DC on December 4. Another noteworthy date is January 21 where the Terps travel to the Palestra to play Temple.
As for the ACC portion of the schedule, they have home and home games with Virginia, Miami, Georgia Tech, Duke and North Carolina. The latter two are crucial as the Terps went 0-4 last year against Duke and Carolina. Road games are Clemson, Florida State and NC State with Boston College, Virginia Tech and Wake traveling to the Comcast Center.
The ACC Tournament is March 8-11 in Atlanta.
