Melvin Mora was released by the Diamondbacks last June and reportedly had decided to retire back in December. A month ago, the 40-year old former Oriole said that he had changed his mind and was looking to return to baseball for his 15th season.
Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports that MelMo had an offer on the table from the American League champions, but didn’t take it. Mora apparently turned down the offer from the Texas Rangers because he wants to play closer to his home in Baltimore.
The Rangers reportedly offered Mora a minor league deal with a spring training invite. I’m not sure he will get a better offer from a better team.
