ESPN.com continued its meaningless NFL power rankings this week with their stadium ranks detailing the toughest road environment for an opposing team. The Ravens home, M&T Bank Stadium, was ranked number 13 behind some questionable picks by the crew at the worldwide leader.
Qwest Field, home of the Seahawks, the Superdome and the Metrodome were all listed ahead of M&T Bank Stadium.
ESPN.com’s James Walker posted an article on his blog questioning his colleagues votes.
I voted the home of the Baltimore Ravens No. 8. It’s a loud and raucous environment, and it’s one of the few stadiums in which the crowd cheers its defense more than its offense. Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis gets the crowd hyped early with his pregame dance that I like to call the “Ray Lew.”
I talked to two veteran NFL players last week about stadiums, and both mentioned M&T Bank as one of the toughest venues to play. The Ravens were 7-1 at home last season and 13-3 the past two years. Still, M&T Bank Stadium was ranked No. 13 and received only four votes from our panel.
I definitely think Baltimore has to be in at least the top ten. What do you think?
