In it’s list of the Top 100 players in the league, the NFL Network listed Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco as the 90th best player in the game today.
At 26, Flacco enters his fourth season with the Ravens after being drafted in the first round in 2008. He was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Month in 2008 and has a 87.9 career passer rating.
As Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun points out, Flacco fell six spots to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman, who was listed as number 84.
Flacco has had more long-term success than Freeman. He’s 32-16 as a starter and has taken the Ravens to the playoffs in all three years, including a trip to the AFC championship game. Freeman has yet to guide the Buccaneers to the postseason.
And their stats were nearly identical in 2010. Flacco had 171 more yards passing than Freeman. But Freeman’s quarterback rating (95.9) was slightly higher than Flacco’s rating (93.6). Both threw for 25 touchdowns.
Do you think Flacco was snubbed by the talking heads at the NFL Network?
Until he wins a Super Bowl, you cannot list Flacko as a top 100 player. Getting to the playoffs 3 years in a row, does not make for a great QB, less top 100.
