The NFL has decided that clean and legal hits like Bernard Pollard’s shot on the Jaguars’ Deji Karim two weeks ago are fineable, but when Troy Polamalu tackles Wes Welker around the neck it’s okay.

If the NFL wants to have any credibility with their strict rule changes then they at least need to be consistent with their fines.  Pollard led with his shoulder and delivered a vicious and legal hit on Karim and was fined $10,000 by the league.  Poster boy and commercial sensation Troy Polamalu grabs Welker around the neck and injures him and he gets nothing.  Ridiculous.

Fans and players are upset with rule changes not because of the league softening the game, but because there is no method to the NFL’s madness.
