Today’s top story from the Orioles Grapefruit League action…

O’s outfielder Nolan Reimold took a pitch to the face.  Seriously.  In the Orioles Spring Training Matchup against the Rays, Reimold was plunked in the face by Rays starting pitcher Alex Cobb in the top of the first.  And you thought your day started poorly.

Roch Kubatko at wrote that “Reimold grabbed his head and fell to the ground.”  He said that Reimold laid on his stomach for “several minutes before finally sitting up.”

Reimold was taken to the local hospital and is “conscious and alert.”  He’s now trails Travis Adair, son of O’s pitching coach Rick Adair, for most times hit in the head during Spring Training.  Adair has taken head shots three times so far.

Last night Adair was hit in a pickoff attempt, he also was hit by a line drive and “nailed by a throw at second base on a stolen base during an intrasquad game.”
