Who: Maryland Terrapins vs. South Carolina State Bulldogs

What: Yet another gimme at home

Where: Comcast Center, ESPN3

When: 2:00 PM

Line: Can’t find one. Let’s say Maryland (-12.5)

You know what’s fun? Looking at the Maryland basketball page on ESPN.com, and seeing 1st under assists and 1st under rebounds. This team still has imperfections, but those two numbers conceal a lot of them.

Wait, who are we playing?:

The oddly human looking Bulldogs of South Carolina State. The Bulldogs are ambivalent owners of a 4-4 record, and were picked to finish a cool 12th out of 13 teams in CBS’ MEAC season preview (one spot above previous Maryland opponent/worst basketball team on the planet Maryland – Eastern Shore).

Gotta watch out for:

Two people: Senior Khalif Toombs and junior Adama Adams. They’re South Carolina State’s leading scorers, and they’re both shooting at slightly sub-Aronhalt levels from three (51.9% for Toombs, 52.2% for Adams). That guard pairing should provide really the only challenge for the Terps. This will also be a team that has a player “possibly” capable of guarding Alex Len with 6’11” junior Matthew Hezekiah.

One big thing:

Maryland has played plenty of teams with good shooters this year, but through a combination of luck and eventually tight defense, they’ve only run into one great shooting performance (Lafayette). South Carolina State doesn’t do much well, but Toombs and Adams can both shoot it from deep. If Maryland defends the 3 point line from the jump, then it should take away the only scary facet of an otherwise unintimidating foe.

Maryland – 78, South Carolina State – 64
