Jones has made four All-Star games (2009, 2012-2014), Machado has made one (2013), and this would be Joseph’s first if he wins. Jones has a .304/.343/.457 line so far this season with six home runs and 26 RBIs, Machado has a .270/.333/.470 line with eight home runs and 22 RBIs, and Joseph has a .254/.340/.405 with four home runs and 18 RBI.
Orioles All-Stars missing from the results include J.J. Hardy (2013), Matt Wieters (2011, 2012, 2014), and Chris Davis (2013). Former Oriole Nelson Cruz leads the votes at DH for the Mariners.
The Royals are the only team with at least one player in the top five at each position, including Alex Rios who has 32 At-Bats this year. Can someone say “Glorified Popularity Contest”?
