Steve Henson of Yahoo Sports posted a list of his Winter Meetings Winners and Losers and the Baltimore Orioles and their designated hitter Luke Scott were among those victorious. Henson applauded the Orioles for their moves to obtain Mark Reynolds and J.J. Hardy, the re-signing of Koji Uehara and the way they handled Luke Scott’s controversial comments about President Barack Obama.

They obtained power-hitting third baseman Mark Reynolds from the Arizona Diamondbacks and steady shortstop J.J. Hardy from the Twins while giving up nobody who figured prominently in their 2010 plans. And to finish up, they re-signed Japanese swingman Koji Uehara to a one-year contract with a vesting option for 2012, making their calculated risk of not offering him arbitration pay off. The Orioles want Uehara to close and he prefers to start, but they can hash that out in spring training. So even though Konerko and Beltre spurned their advances, the Orioles had a good week. Free agent Adam LaRoche remains a possibility at first base.

Among the losers were the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. It’s nice to see the Orioles finish up in the top of the division.

Do you think the Orioles were winners during the Winter Meetings?
