Even though most of the Baltimore Orioles were at the Ravens game on Thursday night, it was a big evening in the baseball world for the idle O’s.
The Orioles magic number for a Wild Card berth is now down to four.
The Toronto Blue Jays shutout the New York Yankees 6-0 on Thursday. The Yankees fell to 90-66, now just a game ahead of the Orioles in the AL East with six games remaining. The Yankees magic number to clinch the division is six.
Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays won their eighth straight game, defeating the White Sox 3-2. The Rays are four games back in the East and tied with the Angels at two games back in the Wild Card.
Please go away Tampa.
The Orioles still hold the lead over the Athletics for the top Wild Card spot in the American League.
