The Orioles officially announced that Jason Hammel will take the mound for them on Opening Day in Tampa Bay. The 30 year old righty had a breakout season in 2012 with the Birds, with a 3.43 ERA over 20 starts, but missed half of July and all of August with a knee injury.

He’ll face David Price on April 2 at Tropicana Field.
The O’s named Jake Arrieta their Opening Day starter last season. He finished the season 3-9 with a 6.20 ERA, but has looked like a new man this spring (1-0, 1.56 ERA over four starts).
