Fans in Baltimore are already saying their good byes to Mark Reynolds. The Orioles non-tendered Reynolds on Friday night and Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports that they never offered him a new deal after declining his $11 million option last month.
Reynolds told the O’s they are still his number one choice and that the “light is still on” on a possible return. Now Baltimore will have to compete with 29 other teams to re-sign him — or however many are interested.
I have to admit that I am surprised that the Orioles never called Reynolds before his was non-tendered. Either they have no interest in him returning or they think they free agent market will bare him less than he is currently expecting.
