The Orioles closed out their 9 game homestand against the Red Sox and proceeded to take two out of three from the Chowds. It was nice get a series win after splitting with the Twins and losing to the Yankees earlier in the homestand. Although the Orioles find themselves in last in the AL East, they are a half game behind the Red Sox for 4th and only 4 ½ back of the Yankees.

Tuesday: Orioles 4, Red Sox 1
Zach Britton does not look like your typical rookie at this point of his career only 5 starts in. He truly looks dominating and he showed off his superb stuff going 6 innings with 1 run to earn his 4th win of his big league career. Adam Jones provided the offense with 2 RBIs for the team. Jim Johnson pitched two scoreless innings following Britton and Kevin Gregg pitched a perfect 9th.

Wednesday: Orioles 5, Red Sox 4
Jeremy Guthrie pitched 6 innings of scoreless baseball with 6 strikeouts and walked out with a no decision as the Orioles blew a 4-0 lead in the top of the 8th. Adrian Gonzalez singled in the first run and then Youkillis hit a three run bomb to tie it up. However, in the bottom of the 8th, Vlad hit the game winning RBI driving in Derrek Lee. Gregg pitched a perfect 9th to close the door on the Sox for the save.

Thursday: Red Sox 6, Orioles 2
Jon Lester is now 14-0 for his career against the Orioles, and 3-1 2.52 ERA on the season after 8 solid innings. With the score tied at 2 in the top of the 7th, Carl Crawford (0 for 10 in series to that point) hit a double against Jim Johnson and scored after a single by Dustin Pedroia. The Chowds proceeded to tack on three more runs in the 8th for the final total.

Overall, the Orioles played very well in the series and have some confidence as they make their way to US Cellular against the White Sox for a 4 game set.
