After a long, low scoring weekend in the “Friendly Confines”, the Orioles returned home, and scored — a lot, nine times to be exact.  The power stroke of the lineup finally returned as the O’s belted five homers after they hit just two all weekend.

In the third inning Nick Markakis belted a two run shot, followed by a booming shot by Steve Pearce. Markakis had been held hitless in his previous five games.

Then, in the fifth inning the offense exploded. Delmon Young hit a three run shot, followed by solo homers by J.J. Hardy and Chris Davis. Tonight was the first time in O’s history where the club hit both back-to-back and back-to-back-to-back homers.

We all know the baseball season is a marathon, but it seems like after the first losing road trip of the season, the Orioles are ready to sprint to the finish line, hitting homers along the way.
