Dave Hughes of Press Box Online is reporting that the Orioles are “seriously pondering” switching their flagship radio station from WJZ 105.7 FM to WBAL 1090 AM.
This fall, most media sources in Baltimore said the team would be crazy to leave the CBS-owned FM sports talker to go to the Hearst AM news talker, which also carries the Ravens. Sources now insist WBAL is still in play to land the baseball team come the 2011 season.
Team owner Peter Angelos prefers WBAL, sources said.
Personally, I really enjoyed had the Orioles sounded in FM, but will probably be listening to their games on XM next season. Do you mind the switch?
Don't really mind it – prefer the FM dial but I will listen either way
THATS WHERE THEY BELONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WBAL has a much stronger signal, but their format stinks. Tat her listen to sports chatter leading up to the game instead of political BS.
I live in Columbia and once the sun goes down I lose WBAL's signal. I was extremely happy when the team dropped WBAL. It's pretty ridiculous to live 15 minutes from the stadium and not be able to get the games on radio. Since I don't have cable TV the only way I'd be able to follow the team is on MLB. This is absurd.
WBAL and the Orioles like ice cream and cake.
Call me a young punk, but I think the O's sound great in FM. For any of the folks saying that the crackle of the AM radio reminds them of the old times, gimme a break. It's 2011!
I'll be listening on XM, right Young Punk?
Right. But I'm talking about for those who aren't listening on XM.
I agree with mgw, I listen to escape the political world. I don't want to be reminded to tune in to Ron Smith and the rest Wbal's talk shows during station breaks. When I turn on my truck in the morning I don't want to hear that ex-con Norris either!

Please stay with 105.7 FM, better reception in the man cave….
Living in central PA, I hate the 10 mile stretch in northern MD of no man's land between the signals of 105.7 and 910AM. I can pick up from 1090 from the furthest northen suburbs of York.
