Despite Jeremy Guthrie‘s line, 7.1 innings and three earned runs, he performed like the ace of Baltimore‘s staff on Wednesday night.

Guthrie gave up his 27th homerun of the season, an American league record, and was charged with two runs after he was removed from the game in the seventh inning.

The guy’s luck is terrible. Guthrie has 10 quality starts in 22 games pitched and the Orioles are only 8-14 in games he takes the hill.

Edwin Jackson quieted the O’s bats after a noisy night on Tuesday. He allowed only three hits in eight innings and was charged with two homeruns.

Balitmore attempted to rally in the 9th inning. Nolan Reimold was hit by a pitch to start the inning, then Adam Jones hammered a two run shot. But, Melvin Mora popped up with a runner on and Gregg Zaun struck out swinging to end the game.
