This is coming live from Bowie, MD as the Baysox are taking on the Richmond Flying Squirrels in their home opener.

Opening Night in the minors is here. The starters for the respective clubs are Chris Tillman in Norfolk, Zach Britton in Bowie, and Rick Zagone in Frederick. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Bowie CF Matt Angle injured his wrist in his last AB of spring training. He had a solid season last year in Frederick, played well in the Arizona Fall league, and held his own with the big league team in Sarasota. Angle could be out anywhere from 5-8 weeks. Look for Danny Figueroa to pick up the slack in his stead.

2009 1st Round pick Matt Hobgood made it off season goal to make Delmarva Shorebirds. Now that he met that goal, it looks like he will spend this year proving to the O’s fans that he was more than a value draft pick.

After it was assumed that INF Blake Davis would be the starting SS in Norfolk, he was sent back down to Bowie and is without a position. It looks like he will need a big break in order to get another chance to prove himself.

Former 1st rounder Billy Rowell was poised to start the season as the Baysox starting RF. Instead he is back in Frederick for his 3rd year. This time around he is getting another chance to play 3rd Base again. People who watched the Keys more closely said that Rowell was never comfortable playing the OF. This year, he will be expected to break out and be a leader for the Keys.
