Hey a sweep is a sweep, it’s not our fault that Major League Baseball scheduled a 2 game series between the Twins and O’s.

On Thursday at the yard Brad Bergesen made his 4th start of the year. They grow up so fast don’t they?

B-Squared pitched a solid 6 innings, scattering 11 hits but surrendering only 3 earned runs. He did get some help from his defense, with some strong defensive plays by Adam Jones and Nick Markakis.

Despite a no desicion, Bergesen’s performance set the table for an Oriole win in the later innings.

The Birds scored early with a solo homer from Melvin Mora in the 2nd inning, it was MelMo’s second of the year. Then Cesar Izturis drove in Aubrey Huff to give the birds a 2-1 lead.

In the 3rd, Huff-daddy went yard (am I too heavy on the nicknames today?). 4-2 good guys.

Joe Mauer tied things up at 4 for the Twins in the 7th inning, but it was Lou Montanez that hit the game winning RBI single that scored Melvin Mora. 5-4 Birds.

George Sherrill came in and recorded a save, he looked lights out after working with pitching coach Rick Kranitz earlier in the day. The top third of the order went hitless for the first time in the 2009 season, but it didn’t matter.

The evil empire comes to Baltimore on Friday for a weekend series. Game time is at 7 PM.
