The Washington Capitals finished an impressive three game road trip with a wins in New York and Toronto and an overtime loss in Philadelphia (5 of the 6 available points). Saturday’s win featured Alex Ovechkin’s first hat trick of the season, the tenth of his career.

Ovechkin scored the first goal in the first period, the second in the third period and the final goal came with 24 seconds remaining and an empty net.

For Ovie, it was his first multi-goal game since October 30th, he took eight shots and recorded two hits and three blocked shots.

“You knew that eventually he was going to break out,” Bruce Boudreau told Katie Carrera after the game.

The Caps return home on Monday to face the Rangers at Verizon, then play the Thrashers on the road on Wednesday.
