The Orioles took the series against the Yankees, but flopped in the final game on Thursday.

It was an 11-2 loss that the O’s ended with after beating the Yanks in the first two games. Everything seemed to cool at one time for the Orioles. The top third of the lineup went just 1 for 11 with 1 RBI.

Starting pitcher Alfredo Simon started off just fine in his debut with the Orioles retiring his first seven batters. But Simon gave up two homers in the 4th inning, one to Mark Teixeira and another to Nick Swisher.

Simon gave up 4 earned runs and the Bronx Bombers kept bombing on the Bird’s bullpen. Brian Bass, Matt Albers and Chris Ray allowed another 5 earned runs in 4 innings of work.

Luke Scott hit his first homer of the year, a solo shot in the bottom half of the 4th.

The O’s start a three game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday at 7:05 PM.
