The Ravens appeared to be plagued by injuries after their 13-7 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, but the early report looks good for the five players the club was concerned about. Dannell Ellerbe, Josh Wilson, Michael Oher, Haloti Ngata and Ed Reed were all injured in the game, but Baltimore appears optimistic about each player.
Ellerbe and Wilson left the game with shoulder stingers, but as Mike Duffy at BaltimoreRavens.com points out, they were the only two of the five that were officially listed as “out” during the game.
Oher and Ngata also left the game in the third quarter, but John Harbaugh told the media after the game that he thought both of them could have returned. Oher told Aaron Wilson that someone fell on his right leg, which he injured a few weeks ago, but that he’s optimistic he will play next week. “I should be good. Just get a bunch of treatment, and I should be alright.”
Ed Reed stayed in the game, but was banged up. Reed sat out of practice on last Thursday with a neck injury. Reed told Aaron Wilson that he injured his ribs during the Cinci game, but that he too expects to play against the Chiefs.
Kick returner David Reed sat out on Sunday, his status remains unknown. John Harbaugh may be asked about it during his press conference on Monday afternoon.
Ah, and the injury excuses begin…
Hey, MGW…how's it going? Think your Ratbirds will meet my stellar Steelers in the next round or will they get by the Chiefs??
Excuses? The story is about how the Ravens look healthy despite injuries during the game. Your Pens looked good in the Classic, eh?
CSF – Welcome back!
I gotta tell you, I think the Ravens win one game in these playoffs and then head back to the golf courses. I think they will easily handle KC, but a trip to either Pittsburgh or NE will be their undoing. You guys like to talk about your 6 championships – AND rightfully so, around Baltimore we brag about "playoff appearances" despite all the Pro Bowlers – 15, most on one team in NFL history on our squad this year…I don't get it and apparently neither does Derrick Mason who told everyone that playoff appearances mean nothing. Hope to chat with you next week, buddy.
What does hockey and the Penguins have to do with a discussion of football? Just because I'm a Steeler fan does not automatically make me a Penguin fan nor does being Canadian automatically make me a hockey fan…well, the golden goal to win at the Olympics (by Sid the Kid) was rather amazing!
Get back to me when Joe Wacko plays with both a broken foot and broken nose…
Generally fans follow teams in the same city. Although I knew a few kids when I was elementary school that picked the teams that won all the time to follow. I love those New England Patriot/New York Yankee/LA Laker fans.
Regardless, no one is making excuses with injuries. I guess you read the word and decided to jump in and troll. Welcome back!
Sorry Zach, not me. Don't live in Pittsburgh but have been cheering for them since 1968 because my grandfather was a fan…don't think I'm in the same group as your elementary school bandwagon jumpers. I like football and tennis. I am not a hockey fan, rarely watch baseball and only enjoy basketball when I play it….OK???
I miss those Baltimore CFL Stallions.
The Chiefs win this game regardless of the Raven's health. The sea of red will swollow those birds. Jamaal will break one for atleast 40. Mark my word…..
KC, I am one of the two toughest critics of the underachieving Ravens on this blog, but I will tell you this…No way the Chiefs win this game this Sunday. No way. Not trying to b a jerk, but despite the Ravens ineptitude, they will not lose to a second tier team like the Chiefs. Next year, after some seasoning of your youg team, maybe, but not this year. No way, no how.
KC Baby – Is that KC Baby as in your a Kansas City Baby? You had a Baby in Kansas City? Your a Baby in Kansas City? There are Babies in Kansas City? Your a "Hot" Kansas City Babe(y)? There is a "Babies R Us" in Kansas City? The Chiefs play like Babies and are from Kansas City? Just askin…
Canadian Steeler Fan – Football and Tennis? Really? You actually told us that? Do you like meet your "Buds" to play a nasty game of Tennis? Isn't there a score in Tennis something like "40-Love"? Could you imagine in football the Ravens squashing the Steelers something like "27-Love"?
But I will give you this CSF, even though you come on here after doing a "Lindsay Lohan" with your "Sticky Buds" and talk smack about the Steelers/Ravens, that I agree with the "Great MGW" in that the Ravens are "One & Done"… Now go hit the "Quad" with the rest of the "Burnouts" and play "Hacky Sack"…
Ravens2488:My "buds"??? Wow, all that and Lindsay Lohan reference too? Such anger. No wonder you cheer for the nasties from Baltimore. At least my communication with MGW was civil and funny. I've been away, the reason I have not conrtibuted to this blog latelybut I do think Ravens will beat the Chiefs for the reasons stated by MGW.
Actually, I'd like to see you take on someone like Rafa Nadal or Roger Federer…fittest athletes on the planet. And just for the record, I PLAY tennis and b-ball (and they're on courts not quads) and surprise, even women (like me!) are football fans.
They sound like kids .. 2488 and MGW .. don't they. As for Zach, I think you caught him in the moment. Looks like he was trying to defend against what he thought was another Ravens basher.
2488 and MGW have nothing worth saying as all they do is trash talk on opinions of others. When someone becomes aggressive towards other bloggers, they have no valid points at all and really become a waste to the true nature of blog. Thanks for stopping by CSF.
CSF – Wow! CSF is a lady! Well then I take back my comments. Sincerly apologize as I do not smack down on a lady… They are to tough… Please accept my heartfelt apology…
Well honestly I could never play tennis or B-Ball anymore… Used to, not Tennis though… But you see, I'm fat, old, lazy and just getting off the couch is a "game" for me…
Most everything MGW says is the same with me. We just are not comfortable with Harbaugh running this team. Its one and done for the Ravens…
BTW, you liked my "Lindsay Lohan" reference didn't you? How I was able to incorporate that into the conversation was classic Ravens2488… Maybe one day I'll do a "Best of Ravens2488"…
Nice to know there are still gentlemen around…thanks Donnie. It's okay, Ravens2488…actually, you never know with the Ravens, that's what makes the rivalry so much fun.
Zach raises good points about the injury situation that could apply to a lot of teams. Makes you wonder if the league is paying attention and that expanding the regular season could lead to further decimation. Love to have Smith, Starks and Colon back for our playoff run.
By the by boys, anyone of you sports fans catch the result of last night's jr. world hockey semi-final? Just saying….
Donnie, Donnie, Donnie…. You hit it right on the spot! Myself and MGW are kids! You are good!
And I do admit that when I grow up I want to be just like you!
You know all the tricks Donnie, like hanging out at prisons and waiting for parolees so that you can get the women…
And Donnie, I am jealous of you… What with the way you fixed up your mom’s basement to be your personal “Dork-Den” is impressive. Your massive comic book collection and the “Sci-Fi” collection of figurines is probably the best in the Baltimore region. How you were able to amass that many “Pokemon” and “Star Trek” plastic figures is beyond my imagination. And don’t get me started with your “Anime” collection…
Bloggers, please try to stay focused and not turn this into a dating service. Even though I believe 2488 and MGW are probably good catches and CSF sounds like a wonderful lady, unless you are going to include recent pics spare me your banter. Bottom line, Ravens beat KC, Jets beat Indy this weekend which sets up Ravens/ Steeler and Jets/ NE for the AFC crown. Here's saying out loud the purple gang will dismantle Rapistberger next week…Baltimore doesn't appreciate sex offenders.
Oh, Willo give it up…read the police report. No rape took place… how shallow that you believe that Ben is a rapist. Sports stars are set up all the time. Ben's crime may be immaturity or bad judgement but Ray Lewis…hmmm…don't get me started.
Dating service? Not a bad idea. Just broke up with the a dork like you…you guys in Baltimore seem to have passion anyway.
1000 on ravens no problem
