I caught the tail end of the Mark Viviano Show on 105.7 The Fan this morning and I’m fired up.
You’ve been forewarned.
Before the game a received a text message from someone attending the game that told me there were an awful lot of Chiefs fans at M&T Bank Stadium.
Today, I hear via Viviano’s show that fans were leaving the game before the game was even over. Unbelievable.
I’ve complained about how terrible Orioles fans are here in Baltimore, even coined the phrase “I went to a hot dog race and a baseball game broke out.” But, this one really grinds my gears.
Ravens fans were leaving in the fourth quarter? You’ve got to be kidding me.
This is Baltimore people. The Colts snuck out of town in the middle of a snowy March night in 1984. We were then ripped off by the NFL who placed two teams in smaller (crappier) markets, Jacksonville and Carolina. And it wasn’t until Art Modell moved the Browns in 1996 that pro football returned to Charm City. We wanted football back in our town forever and this is how we treat it?
I hate the excuses. It was too hot, public transportation lines are too long, the game was over. Too bad.
We wait all year for football to begin, we get eight home games and we leave early?
You want to be compared to the elite franchises? The Pittsburghs, New Englands, and Green Bays? Stop whining and keep your butt in the seat til the end of the game.
Amen!
Makes me sick.
Dude… I was there. No one really left the stadium until the Chiefs went 4 and out at the end of the game.
Getting out of their can be challenging. Give a person a break if they leave when the game is decided.
I don’t agree. I think good fans stay through the end and cheer their team coming off the field. We only get 8 home football games a year, let’s take full advantage.
Fans pay. They have a right to do what they want.
That said, I agree with you Zach. I noticed a lot of empty seats scattered throughout the game.
I will say, I was at the game and only sat in my seat for a bit more than a quarter of the game. It was unusual for me to do that…me and some other fans were chilling in the club level (had never been there before).
You can root for the team, no matter what part of the stadium you are in.
I think we are coming from different perspectives.
If I lived in Baltimore or the surrounding areas, I would tend to agree with you. However, I live 3 hours away and leaving at the 2-minute warning means potentially the saving of an hour on the road.
I think the real travesty is people paying $100 a ticket and watching the game on a tv in concourse as they drink or smoke.
Alright, well I can agree with that.
My issue is with bad fans. Watching the game on TV while you’re at the game is terrible.
I was a bad fan that day. I felt like it then and I feel like it now. Oh well. Like I said, I’ve never done that before.
Sure as heck won’t do it again. Plus I had to watch the game two times, after the fact, to get the full effect of it all.
You’re forgiven Molly! It happens and I know for sure you’re a good fan. Hopefully we all just had an off day.
Phew!
You know what though, I think there is a history of fans booking early at our stadium.
I think you’re right and I’m hard on our fans because I want to be an elite franchise. It starts with us.
