There were 4 Ravens named to the All-Decade team.
These four guys were no-brainers. I am trying think if there was anyone missed. The only name that crossed my mind was potentially Priest Holmes for those ridiculous years in KC. Do you think that any of the Ravens were unfairly left off?
I think that's a pretty fair list.
I'm glad Jamal got on that list as well.
Im not sure how you think McGahee is a bust per se.
He was the only offense we had in 07 and played extremely well.
Last year he obviously came in out of shape but towards the end of the season he played a huge role. I remember sitting in Dallas and watching him run right at me for that TD. He also ran very hard and well in the Tennesse game getting crucial first downs.
This year it was obvious that Rice was gonna be the man and Willis filled his role when asked. And again, McGahee had some nice runs (see Oakland) and contributed to a very effective running game.
I would classify McGahee's tenure so far (who knows if he'll be back) as a bit underwhelming but not a bust by any means.
Eh, it's tough to think that the Ravens gave up on Jamal Lewis for a guy that had one good year and hasn't really done anything since. I think Baltimore would have been better off keeping Lewis for a couple more seasons.
Lorenzo Neal made the list as well, but he was barely a Raven. One guy that had the talent to make the team was Chris McAllister. Unfortunately, C-Mac had as many years being a head case as he did playing well. When he was in the right frame of mind he was as good as any corner out there.
I think a case could be made for Trevor Pryce as well. He might be hur by being a hybrid end/tackle, but he was a productive d-lineman for most of the decade. Matt Stover could be considered a snub. Hard to argue with Viniateri, but I think you can make the case for Stover over Akers.
I like this list, and I'm thrilled Jamal Lewis is there. It is easy to forget how good he was early in the decade. I thought maybe Matt Birk would have a chance at the list, but Mawae and Kreutz were also great centers this decade, so hard to pick I guess.
Four members of the Team of the Decade are Ravens…Two on each side of the ball, to go along with one of the most accurate placekickers in the history of the game…And yet there was but one run deep in to the Playoffs during the Lewis, Ogden, Lewis, Reed & Stover Era…Anyone else feel like the team under-achieved after the Super Bowl Season?
I don't think this team underachieved because the talent on offense just wasn't there.
It all comes back to the quarterback or lackthereof.
I still say if Jamal didn't get hurt during training camp in 01 that they would've had a good chance to win it again.
Bruz, you've made this point before and it has merit. The problem continues even to this day. 6 pro bowlers yet the team barely eeked into the playoffs at 9-7.
That's a really good point. The Ravens are often a team full of super stars. Makes you wonder how effective they'll be in an uncapped year.
